Reno Phil'' s Inside the Music: Flirting with Tunes



Get more out of the music. Music Director Laura Jackson and KNCJ Public Radio Host Chris Morrison provide their insights on the authors and musical choices, historic context and an expert’s point of view to the upcoming virtual efficiency – Flirting with Tunes.

The virtual show occasion will include 2 marimbas (Eric Middleton & Carol Colwell) carrying out an opening night efficiency of Julie Spencer’s Tree Song. The music puts out a love of nature, influenced by the tunes of birds, wind in the trees, and mountain echoes. The program will likewise include 2 exceptionally romantic, melodic and lavish works. As the small title recommends, Coleridge-Taylor’s Novelettes form a set of modest yet stylish character pieces, whose dance-like qualities are highlighted through the addition of triangle and tambourine. Closing the program, Suk’s Serenade will be a joyful & dynamic nod at the heat of spring around the corner. A preferred trainee of Dvorak’s, Suk crafted this work after being challenged by his instructor to compose something more ebullient.
